WorkTango Finds Growth in Voice of the Employee

HR tech start-up finds low hanging fruit in agile engagement surveys and feedback.

When Rob Catalano and Nadir Ebrahim started Worktango.io three years ago, they aimed to create a platform that would transform front-line leadership. What they didn’t expect was the opportunity to disrupt employee engagement surveys, explains Catalano in a recent interview.

The company launched with two products: 1) Agile Feedback, an app enabling managers to maintain systematic and ongoing communications with their teams in a social-like platform to better manage projects, goals, communications and feedback (see ESM: “Worktango Aims to Improve Manager Employee Communication”); and 2) WorkTango Pulse, a platform that helps give employees a voice and HR, executives and leaders actionable insights.

So which product has gained the most traction? According to Catalano, the answer isn’t close. “We already have over four dozen customers for Worktango Pulse, and many of them are leading companies,” he says. “While we’re very proud of our Agile Feedback platform, the concept of building organizational teams around a social app requires more gestation time, whereas Worktango Pulse fills an immediate need.”

Catalano attributes the growth of Worktango Pulse due to the increased interest in the concept of Voice of the Employee in alignment with the concept of Voice of the Customer (see ESM: “18 Country, 36,000 Person Study Provides Resounding Endorsement for Enterprise Engagement”). He says his clients are drawn to the real-time response data, the ability to easily customize questions, share immediate feedback to managers, the commitment to protecting anonymity, and the relative low cost.
